Sun, Jul 02, 2006 - Political Fact Checking Site

FactCheck is billed as a nonpartisan, nonprofit, “consumer advocate” for voters that aims to reduce the level of deception and confusion in U.S. politics. The service (developed during the 2004 elections) monitors the factual accuracy of what is said by major U.S. political players in the form of TV ads, debates, speeches, interviews, and news releases. Their goal is to apply the best practices of both journalism and scholarship, and to increase public knowledge and understanding.

The Annenberg Political Fact Check is a project of the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania. Very interesting to see how much wrong information is disseminated by politicians and their staff… is planning a companion site designed for classroom use, primarily at the high-school junior and senior level and are soliciting input (as of June 29, 2006) from teachers to help design the service.
