Learning Module: Conflict Resolution for Special Education

This audio and video-enhanced learning module is aimed at teachers working with students with disabilities, and is particularly appropriate for special education teachers. It provides an overview of some of the kinds of conflicts that come up between parents of children with disabilities and the schools that serve them and provides ideas on how to enhance the collaboration between these two groups. Featured are the stories of two families who have a child with disabilities who talk about their experiences interacting with schools. The module isn’t really about mastering specific mediation or conflict resolution techniques, but rather about creating an environment of partnership. It was developed by Tracy Gershwin Mueller and Stephanie L. Moore from the University of Norther Colorado.
