Maria Volpe Interview Excerpt on mediating a student takeover

Maria Volpe has done a lot of important work in the conflict resolution in higher education sector. I think I first got to know her back when I was co-chair the first national conference on campus mediation in 1990. Maria attended the conference and talked about her work at John Jay college in New York. I included her materials on the use of town meetings on campus in one of my early online learning experiences that I called Resolve-it College (see student center area).  So I was quite pleased this week to stumble across this Beyond Intractability interview excerpt where Maria talks about her experience mediating/facilitating the resolution of a student takeover of academic buildings that provided the blueprint for the town meeting design. You can hear the whole interview here as well. (Note: the clip about the takeover is the one labeled “Groundrules”)
