American Council on Education
Managing Conflict Workshop
July 18–20, 2006
Chicago, Illinois
For the first time, the American Council on Education (ACE) will offer a three night, two-day workshop on conflict management for division and department chairs and deans. The workshop will be held, July 18–20, 2006, in Chicago, Illinois.
This session will build on a three-hour conflict management session that has been offered in recent years as part of the national ACE Workshop program. Until December 1, 2005, alumni of the ACE Department Chair Program will be given the first opportunity to enroll.
The faculty for this workshop will be ACE's veteran presenters in conflict management: Walter H. Gmelch, Mary Lou Higgerson, and Susan Holton. The workshop structure will enable participants to reflect on their conflict management style and experiment with colleague teams on solutions for conflicted situations. There will be an opportunity for participants to examine their own departmental or campus conflict situations.
