Major Peace Studies
Organizations Merge, National Conference Set for Oct 9-12
The
Peace and Justice Studies Association (PJSA) has been
formed as a result of the merger between the Peace
Studies Association (PSA) and the Consortium
on Peace Research, Education & Development (COPRED).
As a non-profit organization, the PJSA's mission is "dedicated
to bringing together academics, K-12 teachers, and grassroots
activists to explore alternatives to violence and share visions
and strategies for social justice and social change."
In addition, PJSA serves as a professional association for
scholars in the field of peace and conflict studies.
Peace and Conflict scholars will want to be sure to attend
the merged PJSA
Annual Conference to be held this October 9-12, 2003 at
the Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington. The conference,
entitled "Fostering Alternatives to Violence," will
focus on the work of peace educators, researchers, and activists
who foster alternatives to violence in our homes, schools,
communities and in the national and international arenas.
