Three
Indiana liberal arts colleges, Earlham
College, Goshen
College and Manchester
College, can strengthen programs focusing
on peace, justice and conflict resolution thanks
to a $13.88 million award from the Indianapolis-based
Lilly Endowment. The award will be shared among
the three colleges from July 1, 2002 to June 30,
2006.
According
to an Earlham
College press release, the colleges plan to
use a portion of the funds to establish a Peace
House in Indianapolis. The Peace House staff will
serve the Indianapolis community by providing
courses and workshops and facilitating the development
of approaches to the study and practice of peace.
The
colleges will also use funds to enhance their
own research on conflict and violence.
