Peacemaking Strategies and Tactics

A database of strategies and tactics for peacemaking from Quaker peacemakers is available online thanks to the Mountain Forum for Peace. The database was designed to tell stories about people and organizations who are responding to threats and damage to the environment, human rights, etc... According to the Mountain Peace Forum, the database of strategies and tactics provides

  • A source of information
  • A reminder that you are not the first person to encounter particular problems
  • A reminder that there are many approaches to a problem
  • A reminder that success is possible
  • A source of encouragement

The database addresses issues such as peace, social justice, ethnic conflict, corporate abuses, preservation of biological and cultural heritage and the environment. Most of the pieces are success stories. However, failed efforts are included for their learning value.

College and university educators may find the database to be a useful source of case studies, examples and discussion topics.
