Robin
You
are the Director of the Admissions Office. You have
been there for 12 years and are responsible for supervising
a staff of ten people. Chris is relatively new (1 1/2
years), kind of flaky and often comes up with off-the-wall
suggestions. The latest one involved Chris working late
sometimes and coming in late sometimes. You run a tight
ship. You think staff would be able to express their
opinions, but then they need to accept your decisions.
You are not opposed to change, as long as it is well
thought out and well reasoned. You have been under a
lot of stress lately because the office has been really
busy. You have paperwork to complete, decisions to make
and endless meetings to attend. You admit that sometimes
you are short-tempered with people. When Chris suggested
mediation, you agreed, if it would not take too long.
You are somewhat skeptical about mediation, as it could
undermine your power.
