Mock Mediation Roleplay #2

Each issue of the REPORT features a role-play for use in campus mediation training or inservice sessions. This issue's script, addressing the challenging and often murky area of sexual harrassment, was developed by Tom Cavenagh from North Central College in Naperville, IL. As to be expected, both the setting and the characters are purely fictional.

Sexual Harassment? (A Student/Faculty Dispute)

Ken Brown, a junior vocal performance major on scholarship at Naperville University has filed a complaint alleging sexual harassment by the professor of his music theory course, Dr. Mary Brown, who is also his advisor. He has agreed to try mediation upon recommendation from the sexual harrassment grievance officer. Dr. Smith, a full professor, is currently Chair of the Music Department. She has also agreed to try mediation at the recommendation of the sexual harrassment grievance officer.
